Altered Tags

One of the trends in the art/craft world today is altered tags. I usually purchase my chipboard tags but you could also cut them out of chipboard. I then paint both sides of the tag with Ivory White Folk Art paint. Next I either paint color on the tag or add some decorative paper, pick out a saying and letter it in Calligraphy. Then each little tag becomes a miniature mixed media as I add flowers, keys, hearts, or other decorative embellishments. They are little one-of-a-kind art pieces. They can be hung on your wall, your door or your mirror, or be a special gift for your friends.

Handmade Books

These last couple of months I have been focused on making handmade books. There is something about cutting the chipboard, making a spine, and then pages and pockets that is so fascinating to me. I cover the covers and pages with decorative paper and then the real fun begins; the embellishment. Tucking in sayings, and places for you to put your pictures or journaling cards is the best part.
